Wingman Products - Welcome to the World of Wingman

Wingman - Awesome male grooming products (they really are!!)

Hello there!!

So I've been taking to Twitter quite a bit recently and started following a brand called Wingman.

They make male grooming products with some unique characteristics - the scents, and that they are 3-in-1, meaning they can be used to wash the body, hair, and also, shave the face with.

Wingman kindly sent me their 3-in-1 Jetwash Shampoo-Shower-Shave products (yes, I did make a reference to the three S's there..) which I said I would kindly try-out and review for them.

So here we go!!

Lets start with, what I think, is the most unique and probably signature scent of the three - Jetfuel.

This is is a very unique scent in that it smells like Wood, Spice and... Aviation Fuel.
Yup, that's right - Aviation Fuel. This stuff smells AMAZING!! My nasal passages have never had the pleasure of a smell like this passing through them. Words cannot describe... it's not like the forecourt of a petrol station(!!), but you can smell what is supposed to be the smell of "fuel".

Don't be put off by this, the scent works really well, and really is a masculine manly scent, not too overpowering, but it lingers enough in the air and on your skin after you wash with it that you know it's definitely there!!

The gel itself is a nice thick consistency, and is a pale orangey colour.

The next fragrance in the line is called Boom. This is the minty one of the three, smelling of Spearmint and Peppermint.

This one is great if you're feeling a little stuffed up with a cold or flu, the smell is amazing and lingers around in the bathroom after showering like a steam-room at a spa. Lovely!!

This one is bright blue in colour, and is thick and foams nicely like the other products.

The final fragrance in the line is called Charge. This one is the fruity one - scented with Lemon, Mandarin and Coconut.

The scent on this one is also great, fruity, but not to the point of being too "girly".

Again this lathered nicely, the scent lingered long enough, and the gel is nice and thick; this one coloured a nice citrusy-lemony-yellow colour.

I have used each of the products, and have used them for their 3 uses - as a shower gel it laters up nicely and leaves the body feeling clean and fresh, as a shampoo it leaves me hair clean, shiny, and any styling product is also removed and doesn't leave me feeling greasy, and as a shave gel, it provides adequate shaving lather to give a close and comfortable shave with no irritation.

These products genuinely are fantastic, and the fact that they are 3-in-1 means they're great for taking to the gym or taking on holiday or weekends away, festivals etc as it eliminates the need for taking 3 different products, or faffing about with dispensing any products into smaller travel bottles.

They are available to purchase in Tesco stores, on the Wingman Webstore, and at select online stockists.

King of Shaves Hyperglide - The Razor

The best shave you'll have for a LONG time...

Hey hey!

So it's been a while since I made a blog post/review - had a fair amount going on in my life both at work and family, but we won't go into that here!

This post is all about the new, innovative, amazing, and incredible new piece of shaving hardware from the King of Shaves - the Hyperglide System Razor!

This initial review is purely on the razor handle itself, I have shaved with it once already and will continue to do so for another week or so, and then I will post another review on my findings on the shave itself. I'll keep you all posted...

So what's different I here you ask? It looks like it's the same as every other cartridge system on the market, right? WRONG!!

This razor is unique, in that it doesn't have a lubrastrip found on all other system razors, and has been included since 1976 (a whopping 38 years ago!!).
Now King of Shaves is here to change all that, and I agree that, after nearly 40 years, a change is well overdue.

The razor is coated with a unique (and patented) material that is "Superhydrophillic". It's the same sort of concept that is used in fog free mirrors and enables oil to not soak into materials and be "repelled". I tweeted Will King and asked him for info on the ingredients and concept and received a nigh-on instant reply of "TOP SECRET!!". King of Shaves are keeping this one close to their chests.

This means that the razor can be used to shave with just water - no oil, gel, cream, foams, soaps etc, just plain, pure, simple water.
I mentioned above that I have shaved once with this razor already, and this shave was with nothing but water, and I have to say - SHA-MAZING!! But more on the shaves to come in a later blog post ;)

So now onto the razor itself.

The razor head is a 5 blade cartridge system, but now also features a single trimming blade on the back of the cartridge (a new feature for King of Shaves razors, not so new for "those who shan't be named in this review") - I think the trimming blade is a great idea as it makes trimming sideburns easier and more accurate, and it's great for getting into those awkward spots where the cartridge won't fit, such as right up under your nose.

As stated above, the front side of the cartridge houses 5, narrow, super sharp blades, and surrounding the blades is the "Superhydrophillic" magic that makes this razor unique. The blades are spaced nicely and evenly apart and don't clog, which I might add, is a bit of an issue that I found with previous incarnations from King of Shaves (the Azor 4 and Azor 5). This would lead to a sometimes rough and patchy shave, but I have to say that I have not experienced any of this with this new razor.

The razor also comes packaged with a holder for the razor handle, protecting the head from any damage or moisture (which will prolong the life of the cartridge and blades) and, something I have not seen before with a razor and I think an ingenious idea, a mirror/tile sucker for storing the razor - amazing!!

The King of Shaves Hyperglide razor certainly is a marvel to look at, uniquely designed, the colours look great, and it looks fantastic sat on a bathroom shelf/unit, and even stuck to a tile or mirror.

The razor is priced at £9.99, and is available to purchase now from the Official King of Shaves website, as well as poised.co.uk, and will be available in nearly all Boots, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrison's and Asda by February.
Extra cartridges are also available at £9.99 for a pack of 3, with the same availability given above for the razor handle.

Ursa Major Stellar Shave Cream

Enjoy a truly "Stellar" shave!

This is my second Ursa Major product review, the first being the Fantastic Face Wash.

This is the Ursa Major Stellar Shave Cream - a wonderful shave cream that is 98.7% natural, as well as having organic and sustainably sourced ingredients.

As you can see from the picture above, this is all you need to completely cover your face as the cream is super concentrated, and you will get a good 60+ shaves out of it - I usually only shave every other day, so 3 times a week, and this tube has lasted me well into 6 months, meaning I have achieved over 70 shaves with it - which is phenomenal for the price.

The cream is a non-lathering cream and is not meant for use with a shaving brush - if you try and use a brush you won't get any leather, but you will still be able to achieve that "canvas brush" effect when applying it to your face. The picture above shows how much coverage is produced from a small amount of cream, and this is just by massaging it around by hand.

The cream contains no artificial fragrances, so any smells that emit from it are completely natural. This cream smells AMAZING. It has a great woody, gingery scent, complimented with various "tree" based smells, such as Fir, Birk, Spruce and Rosemary - it smells like a forest on a fresh, dewy spring morning.

When applied to the face, the cream provides a slick gliding surface for your razor, and as said previously, this is a non lathering cream, so it kind of sits on your face like a moisturiser that just won't sink in. Since I have been using this cream, my overall skin condition has improved dramatically, and I have eliminated most, if not all signs of razor burn, bumps and in-growns.

You really do get a stellar shave when using this product, the consistency, lifespan and price point of the product make it all the more appealing, and it works great if you use a cartridge razor, if you are more of a traditional shaver like me and use a DE razor.

Available to purchase now from Nkd Man.

Ursa Major Men Fantastic Face Wash

It really is that Fantastic!!

In this post I would like to introduce you to Vermont based Ursa Major, and one of their products - the Fantastic Face Wash. Over the course of the next few days I will also be reviewing their other products, which consist of a Toner, Shave Cream and Face Balm.

The bottle design, simple, striking and to the point
This face wash is a concentrated gel formula that doesn't dry out your skin, or leave it feeling greasy or oily.
Because it is concentrated, you only a little to go a long way (about the size of a penny in the palm of your hand), which also means the bottle will last a good 4-6 months, so it is excellent value for money.

The gel in hand
After lathering up

The ingredients are fantastic, as well as being 99.5% natural and 51% organic.
And the scent - my goodness!! I have never smelt a face wash (or anything of that matter) that smells as nice as this - a really rich, woody-minty-herbally smell that fills the bathroom when you lather it up on your face, for some reason reminds me a little bit like Christmas :)

Blurb
Directions and Ingredients

After cleansing my face with this wash, it never feels dry or tight, like most other gel washes do. I think this is because this is a natural product that contains no chemical nasties that can dry out your skin such as Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulphate). Also, my face is never left feeling red or irritated after using this wash, this is due to the natural oils in the product having a calming and almost therapeutic affect on the skin. Moisturisers/balms still sink in like a dream, and I feel that this product is perfectly fine to use twice a day (morning and night).

The product lathered on my face - note the low but right amount of lather

Ursa Major are a fantastic brand, and not well known in the UK. I have spoken to friends, family and colleagues and all seem to be unfamiliar with them, but having spoken to them about the brand, showed them the products and given them some to try, they have all said that this will certainly be a brand that they will look into purchasing from in the future.

This is an amazing face wash, and has been my go-to wash for the past year almost, and I cannot recommend it enough. This is one that you HAVE to try. 5/5

Hairbond Moulder

My first review for this blog is going to be for the Hairbond Moulder styling product.

First of all, I am going to give you a little insight into the company:

Hairbond was founded by hairdressing expert Scott Michaels in 2008, and since then has produced some of the "best in class" hair styling and hair care products.

To quote the Hairbond website:

After nearly 15 years of retailing professional products I personally became dissatisfied with imported, boring and gimmicky brands with sub standard product ranges”. “Since Hairbond has launched we are now exporting around the world. We are also continuing to generate a cult following, as well as a huge list of celebrity fans. Our brand is not about gimmicks but giving people a quality British made alternative to their hairstyling routine"
Not a truer word said in my opinion.

Now moving onto the product:

The lid and striking logo

So this is the Hairbond Moulder, the flagship product in the Hairbond range, which includes a mix of clays and styling creams, as well as a shampoo and conditioner, and the soon to be released Toffee Scented Hair Shaper.

The Moulder product in the jar

The product itself is a mixture between a clay and a fiber-like paste (like the American Crew Fiber), and has an AMAZING smell of apples, and I think a hint of pineapple.

You only need a small amount to work through your hair, about the size of a 1p-5p piece, rub it all between your hands, then work through your hair into the desired shape and style.

The product is not in any way greasy or shiny, which is part of the uniqueness of the Moulder, as it gives you the look, feel and hold of a clay or wax, without leaving your hair looking like it's been washed with olive oil(!).

The side of the jar - it looks glass but it is plastic and looks great on the bathroom counter

This is such a great product and I can see how it quickly became their flagship product, in actual fact the product was sold out for quite a while after it's launch, due to the high demands.

If you have short to medium length hair, and like to give it a bit of style (spikes, messyness etc), then I cannot recommend this product enough. 5/5
